I am so grateful for contraception. If I could only keep three modern inventions, I'm pretty sure that one of them would be contraception.
Parents, please be sure that your raise your kids knowing how to access and use contraception so that they can protect themselves and make safe choices when they are ready. Far too many teens are operating on no information or bad information, but they are still making choices. Remember that if you are not talking to them, they will listen to the people who are.

At first I read "Happy World Contraption Day!" which would be a funny day to have. What would be your other two modern inventions? I'd have to go with the window screen, the bicycle, the washing machine, antibiotics and of course contraception, which is five...hmmm...not willing to drop any of those, but pretty much all the other trappings of the modern era (oh, wait, what about literacy and easy access to pens and paper...and the camera I'm pretty attached too...ugh it's to hard).
Antibiotics and epinephrine. Hands down.
Andrea, "Happy World Contraption Day!" makes me think of what my mom first handed me when I said, "Guess what, mom, today I am a woman." (No, I didn't really say that. What I said was, "Ohhhhh noooooo.")
I walked by PPH today, and saw a guy holding a sign that said, "Pray for an end to abortion." I thought that was okay-- I would like for it to become obsolete, after all. I was tempted to say, "I think this is the clinic for contraceptives, and not what you're looking for," but I'm not sure that my words would have been welcome.
Word. I also would like abortions to be ended - through a world without poverty and sexism where all women got to make their own choices about their lives and contraception and good, solid sex education were widely available.
