Ike-Watch

Sister's out of town and we're ready to go west if we need to go. Watching carefully now.

Traffic on I-35 here is backed up already for miles. But you know you can come to my house if you need to!

Keep your head down.

Thanks everyone and thanks, Triana. Our escape plan right now is 44 to Alice and then maybe down to McAllen where my stepmom has a sister if it becomes necessary to leave. 37 to 35 sounds pretty impossible. I'm a little stressed and not sure we handled this the way I think we should have. No one not on the island is leaving since the models all show that is not coming here so we have waited. That said, if it surprises us, I'm afraid that even the roads to Alice could already be too packed. Half of me wishes we had just gone, but I know I'm pretty hysterical about these weather things. All the weather folks say we're safe as long as we stay off the beach and that we won't even get any rain from it - just rain on Sunday from the front that's pushing it away. Keep praying for us, please!

Looking good - it's made the turn toward Galveston (please watch out, my Woodsboro reader). We are just under a tropical storm watch now.

I can't believe I missed this post. I'm so glad you all missed Ike. It must be so stressful to have to plan out whether or not to evacuate.
