Congress did not override the veto. There is, of course, talk of a compromise - but the original bill was already a very bipartisan compromise. Whatever lesser thing comes will be sure to keep even more of America's children uninsured and unsafe.
I just don't get how a person can claim to be "family friendly" and want "no child left behind" can just turn around and leave children behind. To the people who say, "I don't want universal health coverage because that means it'll take longer for my child to get medical help," my response is, "So really, what you're saying is that children who have financial resources deserve help over children who don't have financial resources."
